Just be yourself. The kids will recognize a phony. Set high expectations and goals and never mention last year’s directors or policies. Create a handbook that is clear and concise. Involve parents with an open house as soon as you can and have administration present. Your first impression is very critical and definitely be very professional. Enjoy your first few weeks with the kids, they are rooting for you without necessarily saying so.
