I've never heard of not putting references on a resume before your post. That seems ludicrous. As someone who may (unfortunately) be hiring a new assistant sooner rather that later, I WANT to see references. I may not contact all of them, but seeing who you put down gives me a lot of insight as to your background and the type of person you might be.
