Quick search in HAR shows me houses in the Woodlands/Conroe area for less than $175. So let's say the market is booming (which it is), and the supply is low (which it is), we might not get our dream home for our first home. And we might not even get a 4 bedroom home. A new couple only really needs a 2 bedroom home. I found it interesting looking at HAR that the farther out you get the fewer options there are. In other words, the money left Houston and drive the rural areas up in prices.

But hey, you do you and complain and say the answer is money to the teachers. I'm glad I was able to work my way up over time. While my peers were buying new I wasn't. While my peers were buying huge I wasn't. And now I have some independence and freedom financially that many of them don't.
