As a tax payer living in the real world with a spouse not in education I don't advocate for more for no reason. Teacher pay is not nearly as low as some people like to claim, (as I've stated on this board many times).

As a teacher I got 18 summers with my kid while my spouse went to work. I got 18 Thanksgivings and 18 Christmas breaks while my spouse went to work. I got 6 uninterrupted weeks every single summer for 18 years to take extended vacations, hang out at the pool, and do whatever I wanted with my child while my spouse went to work. All while making a pretty decent wage. Sometimes things aren't measured by money and as I no longer have that child at home I look back on those times very, VERY fondly and wish I could go back and do it again a little slower. I wouldn't have traded a single summer for a job with more pay and less time off.
