I forgot to mention that $58K is about what I was earning during the 2013-14 school year in a small Texas town at a 1C middle school that feeds a 3A high school. I was the middle school director/high school assistant. The district I was in has long been traditionally on the low end pay-wise compared to other band programs in the region, so $58K in this day and age anywhere is simply a non-starter.
