I don’t think it’s a side by side comparison. If I understand the gist of what you are getting at : TMEA represents the All State Audition process while UIL represents the S&E process.

1. The All State Audition process is tournament style (think March Madness) elimination process to select members of an elite performing ensemble. The structure of the process is intentionally set up so that there is as much anonymity as possible so that there so that the judging process is supposedly pure. Therefore, no interaction.

2. The Solo and Ensemble process is theoretically set up so that every participant could possibly succeed and advance if they meet certain requirements. In this situation, the judge is aware of who the participant is and may or may not be able to share some advice.
TSSEC is not much different from the regional contest. The judge at TSSEC may or may not be a university professor that may use the opportunity to do some recruiting or at least encouragement as they see fit.
