The "strong admin and community support" was because the principal wanted me GONE, and so they were going to "support" the new director. Community support was "the kids want to have a successful program" but by all accounts the program has actually not changed a bit since I left.
The "admin support" was really better interpreted as intrusive meddling and unrealistic expectations, FWIW. Other situations may not be like that, but just make sure if you can you talk to the outgoing director about WHY they're leaving situations like that. Frequently there's a lot to be said that can't be except over a beverage.
