You don't really want to talk NFL and minority hires. Certainly not if you want to talk actual percentages of the population and in 10 years this won't be a discussion at all as the current round of players move into coaching positions. Look at the age of the average NFL coach versus their assistants. When the old guys start to retire guess who will have the experience and be ready to step into those positions. Currently African Americans make up 13% of the US population and 10% of the head coaches in the NFL are African American. 35% or more of the assistants are African American. Do you really want to count the players because that is a whole different level of disproportionate. And what about the Asian coaches and Hispanic coaches? Are they represented? We are here because 40 years ago the NFL and the coaches looked different. Progress has it's way of working things out for the better and that is exactly what we are seeing happen over time. It's 2022. Why don't we hire based on talent and expertise as opposed to checking boxes with things that don't really impact the results? That would be kinda cool.
