Another unintended consequence of NIL. Upset that your college team is losing players to teams that offer them more money? Parents of college athletes aren't. There used to be the reality that a tiny fraction of all high school players even got college scholarships, and an even tinier fraction made it to the pros where they (and momma) get paid. Now if you are a scout team offensive lineman at a major university you can pull in $50,000 a year. Lots more kids making a lot more money playing college sports, and parents see it. Heck, in many states (illegal in many including Texas, but don't think that stops it) superstar HS kids are getting paid millions in 'endorsement' deals.
Say what you will about the argument college athletes should be able to share in money generated by their efforts on the court, field, whatever, the current state of things is badly, badly broken.
