I did the two-band split, with all percussion during the second band class period...both bands were successful, and the percussion class was able to expand it's scope to large perc. ensembles, drumline, world music, etc.
Second band had their perc. in class, first band perc. came after school one day per week with the full first band.
I'm a brass player who feels strongly that percussion students deserve as much room to grow as wind players...
