You would do better to eat nothing instead of what you have become addicted to. Talk about killing yourself one bite at a time. Try Raison Bran or oatmeal. Try a banana or an apple. Maybe eat at MacBlubber one day a week. I am 74 and the waistline struggle never stops, and most of the time, I fail. I'll tell you what-if you can walk an hour evveryday, you would not believe how things will improve. How is your BP and pulse rate? Walk with a small metronome in your pocket at 120 BPM. Move it up a notch every day.
