No discipline in the building, or at home, whatsoever; has been that way for years. Last week a 6th grader told the principal, and the superintendent "FU" right to their faces. NOTHING was done about it. Then right after that, a 5th grader threw their cereal across the hall and hit the principal. Again...nothing....and this was a "light" day as far as misbehavior is concerned. The only discipline being enforced is in the band hall, but I still spend 2/3 of my energy to keep things in order. I expect to lose half of the group next year because, "Band Director is mean".
All of the paraprofessionals have quit en masse. In addition to this, IEPs and 504s are filled out incorrectly on an annual basis, and several kids haven't had an ARD for going on three years. TEA has monitors in the building and has already said that if things don't improve, they are taking over in the fall.
To make things worse this has been creeping into the HS (7-12 building). The HS had been trying to clamp down on things, but the superintendent always overrides what we do there. As with the elementary school, the paras at the HS have all quit, and a large chunk of the JH teachers have already turned in their notice.
