So Aledo has 1,942 students in high school according to their website. 5A ranges from 1230 2219. And the Football division 19222219 is the enrollment gaps. While they are in the smaller side of the Division 1/2 cut there is a very small range in that division compared to the smaller 5A schools. So roughly everyone in that division is the same size. The Smaller 1230 1921 don't have to compete against them in playoffs. So you really think their enrollment of 1942 versus the smallest 5A school at 1230 comes down to quality teaching and vertical alignment? 700 kids at the old 10% rule means they have 70 more kids in their program. If both schools hit the 10% the smallest has 123 and the largest has 220. That's a HUGE difference. Now take that to the 6A programs where if we use the 10% number the smallest has 220 and the largest could be 450. And in reality, many urban 6A programs struggle to get that 10% so the gap is really 100 versus 450. Imagine if the 100 person programs went head to head regardless of how many bodies are on campus...
