Re: Beginner Band Christmas Music
I have "arranged" a few common carols which have worked for years. Good King W. in Eb unison takes you to Bb concert at the top. Little Drummer Boy in Bb takes you to Ab at the top. We Wish You a Merry Christmas in Eb fits the range you requested. I have done these mostly unison except Drummer Boy which I like in 2 parts with horns and altos in harmony starting on D concert(low A for horns & B for the alto saxes) provided they are advanced enough to handle the range. Some years they do great, other years we stick to unison. I have always pushed my young players harder than most small schools. I guess that why we have been fortunate enough to have 3 middle school honor bands. Good Luck. I think the beginners first concert is the most important one of the year!
