For me there's more value in the old financial systems. Being able to have an audit trail showing every interaction with the database of financials in case any questions come up is very valuable in my mind. By my not truly administering all of the databases there's less potential of someone saying I just altered the file. (Which I'll be honest I could theoretically do on something with Google)
There's also the old being able to pass the blame for an issue to them.
I've debated over the past few years about just using FileMaker or Access to create my own version of things. It really comes down to just not having the time to do it though! Time == Money in my opinion here. Currently I'm looking strongly at Presto as our new solution. Dropped Charms like a hot potato at the end of last year.
