The reason for the mic nets is to provide shock mounting, as well as ease of placement. We've got them on 5 of our instruments, and I love them. As long as you have a center post, you'll be fine. You may need to stabilize them if your frame is itty bitty, but a bungee or two isn't a huge deal. I like them because I can position the mics anywhere I want, and I'm not limited to where I can mount a boom arm. I've had them for about 4-5 years and I've never had to think about them since the first day I put them on. I use SM57s with my instruments... it's what I have and them work well.
