Re: If I resigned Monday
If you died tomorrow, they'll have your job posted before your funeral takes place. Most administrators don't give a rat's butt about anyone but themselves and their resumes. They are not loyal to you, so why should you be loyal to them. The kids? See my first sentence. They'll get a new director and move on. I've seen it hundreds of times when someone suddenly quit. The worst that can happen is your district can file a complaint and have you certificate suspended for one year, since administrators have all the rights and teachers have none in Texas. They could also give you a bad reference if you apply somewhere else in the future but trust me, you'll still find a job somewhere. I think you should talk to your administration and test the waters. Tell them in so many words that you just can't do it any more and that if they release you, you'll help them to find a replacement. Or shoot, just come up with a family reason. That falls under "good cause" and won't lead to any sanctions by the SBEC.
