You basically would be burning the bridge of teaching, at least for a while, and in the current area in which you teach. TRS will stop accumulating but you donít lose it.
Iím close enough to retirement that Iím considering sticking it out and pursuing another career.
But man, I get it. Every day I get up and that stomach knot is there. Every day a new battle to fight. Every night I wake up for hours unable to go back to sleep. This is no way to live.
Way your options. Do you have something lined up to make a living? Or go back to school to retrain? Jumping out without a safety net is rash. As much as you want to in the monent, please donít. Find something else and count the costs.
The biggest hit will be to the students. But Iím old enough that I know your sanity is worth as much as theirs. Finish the year if you can. If you canít, get a lifeboat and shove off.
