We are not quarantining close contacts at all, district-wide. Apparently, based on their data, so few "close contacts" ever developed COVID that they decided it wasn't worth it for kids to miss school. This applies to staff and students. If anyone wants to quarantine, they have to take their sick days. It sounds like students can get an excused absence for quarantining with a parent note, but it still counts against their 10% rule. We are not doing any sort of online instruction this year.
There are conversations happening about the Delta variant, but barring some change from Austin I don't that changing anything.
As for band...we're really just back to normal at this point. I thought about going back to bell covers. Honestly, I've just about given up. The kids are going to be back in their jam-packed classrooms all day, only a very small percentage wearing masks. Most of their families don't take any precautions outside of school. I don't see that band will make much of a difference. We were very cautious all of last year but I'm tired of swimming against the current. I've gotten my vaccine, the families who were most concerned have gotten their vaccines, for those who want to be anti-vax there isn't anything I can do about it. Darwin's law will prevail.
