I think it is awesome that you dialogue with your administrators to the extent that you have a clear picture of where they stand. Though you may not agree and you’re concerned, at least you know. To be fair, they may be just as concerned as you but feel like they can’t express that “out loud” for the same reasons you’re not be able to.
So now you’ve taken the next step and you’re doing your research. You’re asking other teachers in the same situation what they’re trying to do to mitigate. You’re using information you gain from the yellow board and you may also be on other websites and Facebook groups. Again “spot on”-you’re doing the right thing. You are looking for a “workaround” that will help you to keep both yourself and your students as safe as possible. I think you’re an amazing teacher for doing that. You exemplify the kind of leadership our students need at this time.
I’m not in the classroom so I don’t have an answer for you. I would like for people to share their ideals or implementation of similar workarounds, and not a back and forth political discussion, I really don’t believe that’s what the poster is spending time here looking for.
To the original poster I hope your research is productive and will help you to have a great year with your students. We are all looking forward to normalcy again and it will come.
By the way-I bet you don’t “yell” at anybody!
