Re: Percussion really small this year
I agree with the other posters. Any time I have a client in this position I always recommend they "park" the percussion section. One other piece of advice that I'd add that might be somewhat unconventional - If you're down to one-per-player on the drums, I recommend using concert instruments instead of marching battery. Marching snares, quads and basses were all designed to be played in a section, whereas concert snares and concert bass drums were designed to be solo instruments. I had a client advance to UIL State Finals using this setup and they sounded great!
