This summer, we have discussed beginning to go through some of that to overhaul what is there.
The plan in my head:
1. If it is on the list: It stays in the library.
2. If it is POP, we will assess how complete it is and determine if it needs to be pulled.
3. Non-contest music will be gone through to determine if it is a suitable piece for current performance.
ALL music that is pulled will likely be boxed and "archived" to a degree, likely in our High School basement. That way, it is accessible if necessary, but not taking up precious library space within the band hall.
I never feel great about just throwing away music...even if it is something that may NEVER be played again. How many times has someone asked about a part or piece and you think "We used to have that..."
