(Or, honestly, they're looking for a first, second, or third year teacher.)
Your best bet is to try to catch on in one of the larger districts - Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Garland, or Mesquite, simply because there are more jobs to be staffed in those districts, even if there may not be the amount of turnover. Getting INTO the area is the first step, being successful the second, finding that "perfect job" is the last one. You CAN be successful in ANY band program if you work at it and are willing to accept that success may not be a first year first division.
If you can point to building a program from 20 kids up to 100 kids and making 2s at Region when the program has traditionally earned 4s and 5s, that type of success resonates with administrators who are all about "engaging students" and "extracurricular participation" - even if you don't make that 1 right away.
