Re: Principal Evaluation
My first eval, the principal came into my seventh grade band class, pulled up a chair in the back, and went to sleep. Two days later I get a PDAS eval that says “Needs Improvement” in several categories. So, being young and in need of improvement, at the meeting afterward, I ask him to come run a few rehearsals so I can take notes, because if I’m doing something wrong I really want to correct it. The next day I get an amended document that says “Proficient” in everything.
My first eval under T-TESS, where everyone should start off ‘proficient’ or whatever they call it, the assistant principal came in and watched me teach for a little while, then leaves. They wrote a review I really need to get framed. According to him, I was a minor Band God. I was in the top bracket on everything except communication, which was a step below.
Unless they’re band people, they have no clue what we’re doing, and are slightly horrified by it. Take the W and let it ride.
