I’m pleased to announce that ALL SUMMER CAMPS ARE FACE-TO-FACE AGAIN IN 2021! I’d like to extend an invitation to you and your students to attend one of the many exciting offerings from the 2021 Texas A&M University-Commerce Summer Music Camp Series. Our marching arts-oriented camps are pleased to continue a unique partnership with the 19-time DCI World Champions, The Blue Devils, and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser! Student campers and directors will have the opportunity to interact with DCI Hall of Famer Wayne Downey (The Blue Devils), and movement expert Michael Tarr (Boston Crusaders)! Additional information about each event, pricing, and online registration can be found using the link below.
Your drum majors, student leaders and color guard members will have the chance to hone their skills at the Leadership, Drum Major and Color Guard Camp (June 20 – 24).
The Leadership Camp features Frank Troyka, (Conn-Selmer Inc.), Michael Tarr (movement expert – Boston Crusaders), Wayne Downey (DCI Hall of Fame), and renowned fitness specialist, Scott Esquibel, and special guest Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser among others.
In the Drum Major Camp, Koji Mori (BOA Drum Major Institute Instructor, Harrison HS) and his staff will be teaching sessions on beginning and advanced conducting, score study, rehearsal techniques, women in leadership, electronic applications for the contemporary marching band rehearsal, and more. Michael Tarr (movement expert – Boston Crusaders) will be working with the drum majors on how to simplify the presentation of marching fundamentals. All of our drum major campers will have leadership sessions with Frank Troyka and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser!
Color Guard performers from novice to advanced will have the opportunity to work with Lauren Potter (Lebanon Trail HS), David Arvin (Rock Hill HS), and Kris Galbreath (Choreographer – The Blue Stars) to hone their skills on flag, rifle and sabre, in addition to dance and body sessions. Color Guard campers will also have the opportunity to work through leadership topics with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Frank Troyka and Allan Goodwin.
We invite directors to attend The Marching Arts Director Symposium, featuring clinicians Tim Lautzenheiser, Wayne Downey, Frank Troyka, Michael Tarr, Cory Doran (TAMUC, Phantom Regiment, Matrix Performing Arts), TAMUC faculty, and many more! Up to 15 hours of CPE credit will be available for those who attend either as residents or commuters. We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to spend time with us and recharge your batteries for Fall
At Texas A&M-Commerce, your students’ safety is our primary concern. Enhanced safety protocols have been put in place and overall camp enrollment has been capped at a lower number than in years past to ensure a safe camp experience. It critical that you register soon, before we reach our 2021 capacity. Online applications and fee payment are available now, as are discounts for sending groups of students. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. We look forward to making music with you and your students.
