That "other duties as assigned" caveat still has limitaions. In a union state, those limitations are spelled out more specifically. It's meant to say that anything not specifically disallowed in the contract or negotiated agreement can be added in. Bad administartors take this to a whole new level of indentured servitude.
I've worked in a union state and Texas.
I had more job security in Texas due to seniority concerns in the union state, but I was treated more like a professional in the union state.
