Re: Color Guard Tryout
Are you the head director? If so, you tell the guard sponsor what to do, not the other way around. If it were me, there'd be a long conversation about how to work with and around other organizations and events, because in my program a State level event trumps a local audition. I've had that talk with overzealous guard sponsors before. We're not a select league sport, and we're not a cult. I'd give the two kids in question the option to film the audition and then I'd send it to the same judges so that they can be evaluated by the same people.
If you're the assistant and not directly in control of the guard, and the HD is ok with the handling of the event, then you're kind of stuck.
It seems like a sticky situation either way, especially now that the principal is involved.
