Re: Letter Jacket eligibility
Small school director here. We have a school-wide policy (although the cheerleader sponsor didn't follow it for her daughter) that while students may earn their jacket before their junior year, they may not receive their letter jacket before their junior high. My policy is that if a student tries out for the All-Region Band AND makes a first division on at least a class 2 solo or ensemble they may earn their letter jacket. I feel that by their senior year, if they haven't done the aforementioned, then they've earned it. When all you have to do for athletics is log a certain number of minutes or plays on a varsity team to earn a letter jacket, being in band and competing in all of our events for four years should qualify you for a letter jacket.
