I believe between people not wanting to retire on the year that was Covid and people now realizing that those contracts, (even without a union), kept food on tables and insurance, that lots of complaining just means people go back and do it again while holding their breath.
40 hour weeks don't really exist. I no longer teach and work 45 to 50. My spouse is in the business world and has been working 45 to 55 hours every week and some of her coworkers are pushing 65 or 70 hours. The grass isn't always greener. Find something you love or simply learn to say no.
