Re: Applicants cant make time for an interview?
I didn't read where the OP said that his candidates already had jobs and couldn't give up there time. They may have been college grads looking for the first job. As a matter of fact, I've had two candidates in the past that did something similar. And both were right out of college. When I called one on the phone to set up an interview, his roommate said, "he's still sleeping right now, you need to call back at a different time." My call was at 11 am. I had another call me back to break an interview appointment because he had a date with someone. He wanted me to reschedule it for some other weird time. My take is, if you really want a certain job, you'll do what it takes to get to the interview and to be professional when you are there. What if you were notified suddenly that a family member was just rushed to the emergency room? Will you drop everything on the spot to go? Absent is absent, no matter the reason. I'm just saying if you want a job, you show up. If you have UIL coming up or a performance the next, that's different. Just my take.
