I tell them the difference between blowing hard and supporting is.... one is throwing an elephant, the other is holding the elephant over your head and not letting it drop on you. I always start out asking them to think about holding an elephant over their head. Then I ask where do you have to be strong to keep the elephant up. We all know the answer is the entire body - but they usually answer their arms. - I go on to explain core strength and how supporting our air is like using core strength to support an elephant. I tell them throwing the elephant is blowing hard. This concept works every time for me! I even now just shout "hold up the elephant" from the podium and they instantly increase their support without blowing hard. Hope this helps!
