Re: How to move on!?!
Been there a few times (too many). After some time of depression, I start (again) to reevaluate WHY! For me it's always a mix of things. Some my fault (mostly). With the students it is my personal relationships with them. In years gone bad, poor relations with them even though I have been with them for years. Sometimes it's been poor eligibility on key players. sometimes I could have done better with classroom management, sometimes I could have done better at music selections. For me, well I think I need regular feedback for other music teachers.
Hang in there because if your willing to put the time and energy into it, you can make a difference. It took me a long time to get that first sweepstakes. LOTS of hits along the way. Even after that there have been hits but you gotta persevere and love what you do. When I start doubting what I am doing, I start reflecting on why I do it. I could retire now but I love this job more each day. Read motivational things regularly, go watch others work, talk to friends, find your groove.
