Re: What are your thoughts on the new pilot sight reading process?
But as a professional playing in a church orchestra (combien bourgeois!) I was regularly required to perform while sight reading. “Reverend decided to change the sermon, so everything we rehearsed Tuesday is a wash. Here’s the new hymns, and one, two, breathe...”
It is a useful skill. Not the way UIL requires the dog and pony show, but being able to read music musically is a thing we should teach. I think the new pilot will give us a chance to do what we would do in class and perhaps give kids a better opportunity to succeed.
