Re: How did you do at your first UIL?
I got 4s. Single-director middle school program (around 200 kids). This was a while back, early 2000s. I really shouldn't have taken that group (or at the least, narrowed the amount of kids in the competing group), I should have programmed better, and I would have taught things a whole lot differently. The program had a high turn over rate, and had not done UIL for several years.
But I took it as a positive. I was embarrassed but I sat down, brainstormed what to do for the coming year, and we even pulled out a 1st division the following year. I have not seen 4s since with my groups.
On average my groups now make 1s and 2s. I have only worked inner-city districts.
