1. Tenors don't project very well on the field compared to bass and snares. That's why if you don't have more than 1 tenor player, you shouldn't march tenors.
2. Clear heads are usually more articulate than hazy or coated heads. Remo pinstripes are a great standard choice. Be sure to poke a single hole (in the non playing area) with a thumb track or needle all the way through the heads. This allows the oily liquid to dry out between the double layer head thereby making them more crisp sounding. Don't worry, this will not cause the head to bust or break.
3. Remo heads are wonderful IMO. Make sure you opt for a crimp lock instead of a u-channel if there's an option.
4. Tune them from bottom up to P4, M3, m3, 1 shot, 8va above drum 4, 2nd shot as high as possible
