Teaching is not low pay by any stretch. Maybe certain locations but in reality, the benefits for family insurance plan can be costly because the district doesn't pay anything towards those plans in most cases I have seen meaning you are paying the full cost for anyone other than yourself. But from a salary stand point you get 13 weeks vacation, (it isn't paid but it's also time you are not required to respond to parents, admin, or even read a single email), and teachers are starting in the major metro areas at 50k plus. The myth that teachers are poorly paid is just that. Yes, salaries may not grow as much as other fields but you can't lose your job unless you do something stupid even in a pandemic so there is that.
Teaching is high stress if you allow it to be. But managing a McDonalds can be as well if you want it to.
