Re: Director Burnout
I've realized over the last couple of months just how important self-care is. Taking time for myself has always felt selfish, and I would only do it once I felt like I had knocked my to-do list down a ways. I was incredibly burned out and depressed after all of the complications and difficulties of this year. I've started intentionally taking time to recharge myself, because you can't give what you don't have. I now frequently grab my lunch, drive to a quiet spot, and eat with my windows down to enjoy the breeze and birds. I have started making a point of using a meditation app for 10 minutes when I get home in the afternoons. I have also been very diligent about getting to bed earlier so that I have time to let my mind slow down before sleep. All of these activities have made a huge difference, and I've learned that they are as necessary as showering everyday or brushing my teeth for maintaining my health. I would highly recommend making a point of self-care.
