Re: uil judges during covid
I judged a virtual contest earlier this spring. For me, I judged with more "grace" with regards to balance. Poor tone quality is quality tone quality whether there are kids missing or not. But as someone who is also an active teacher, I am well aware of the additional challenges that we've had to overcome this year. It is difficult enough to balance when kids are gone for athletics, ag, or other UIL events. This year, we also had kids missing due to quarantine or remote/hybrid learning situations. If I am asked to judge again, I will take balance into greater consideration assuming that we are back to "normal," whatever that means.
