I have a CanoScan LiDE 90 that I've used for a decade). It's set to maximum scanner bed size of 8.5 x 11.65. I know this isn't A3, but the width and height is just enough to get the music on 99% of my originals. (Only the REALLY WEIRD ones don't fit.) I've learned to line up the edges of the paper with the arrow at the top of the scanner (which is off the bed) and scan with the top closed. It performs beautifully, is under $100, is compact and easy to stow on a bookshelf with tall books, and only runs off a single USB cable (no other power supply). While the 90 is no longer available unless you get it used, the LiDE series is still kicking, and I'd buy another if this one ever died.
