The system may be broken, but we, as educators are paid to make it work as best we can- and not run down our profession as teachers. If you run down the system, you run down our profession. You misunderstand the point-RESPECT- it is good sound PR to show your teaching peers that you are happy to pitch in and do your part, and do it well. To show teachers, students, and administrators that education matters. We are teachers, sure the fun ones that love music, but if you want to be respected by your peers pitch in, do whatever they ask with a smile. Sure you would rather be in front of your band, but give a day to show that education matters.
You will not be respected as an important faculty member, as a teacher, until you show respect.
It is about being respected as a teacher, it is worth a day off the podium.
