Re: Beginner Methods
We began using SI this year after using EE2000. I love it. It does move a little slower when introducing notes and getting to the upper range, but I've never been a "you need to teach the full range to your beginners" type of director. I push tone over everything else. Even though my beginners have met only every other day and we didn't start on instruments until the first week of October, we are actually further along (in terms of the percentage of the book) than last year when school shut down. I also feel that the beginners that are developing better than last years. It also has "updated" videos for beginners (they are about 10+ years old, but at least they aren't the really outdated looking EE2000 videos). I don't agree with some of the ways the video instructors show or teach things (I do like the flute one. Even my hyper-critical flute playing wife likes the flute instruction video), but overall I like it better than any other method book (and I've used most of them).
