I prefer the Schilke 52D when I play. Some of my High School students switched mouthpieces to play on Schilke.
While I was in college, I tried playing the Schilke 48. It was the mouthpiece my teacher used.
It was like playing on a razorblade. It felt like the blood circulation was cut off.
