Many decades ago, an unknown young struggling teacher (me) took over a 2A that had not made a 1 at marching contest in many years. We got a 1 and an older director mumbled, "well this must be an easy contest." His band and the next 3 bands got 3's. We went on to make the first sweepstakes they made in 25 years.
