We have a BUNCH of electives. We also have more class periods in the day (9) so students have more opportunities. If I remember correctly, we have:
-Band
-Choir
-Art
-Intro to Theater (6th)
-Theater (7th/8th)
-Programming/Coding (Required)
-Keyboarding/Journalism (Required)
-Study Skills
-UIL (a class literally to "practice" Academic UIL events, and free time when that's over)
-TMSCA
-Spanish (8th)
-Athletics (7th/8th)
The (Required) classes are considered electives, but have to be taken at some point while students go through MS. There's also a lot of pressure for students to enroll in Academic UIL events on our campus, so the UIL classes are very popular.
I think we have too many electives, personally, but because of the # of class periods we have it tends to work out okay. I would also say that easily over half of our 7th/8th student body are involved in an athletics class.
