Re: UIL Attire
I know of a well respected band director that directed a concert in literally converse tennis shoes and she can do that because her bands always sound amazing and no one bats an eye. I really don't think that director (or student) attire should be a consideration at UIL. In fact, no where on the rubric or the rules that states this. It shouldn't be commented on at all. There's so many variables that can be out of the individual's control such as gender identity. I feel like it's disgraceful for judges to have their options skewed by the attire of the director. It really just hurts the students to judge their band more harshly due to your opinion of the director's attire. Judges are there to judge the music, period. I hope you're not a judge.
