The only reason I would make a concession (after consulting with the student's parents) is because of autism. One option could be to have the student play the bass line on a synth. It could be in the FE or even at midfield. For that matter, why not have the student play tuba with a spot that never moves. That kid can be the "anchor" of each set. Honestly, I feel like this has become more of an issue in recent years whether or not the student is on the spectrum. A lot of kids these days are used to getting what they want. Again...this issue requires a lot of parental discussion.
