For sure! I am only in my 16th year of teaching, but it has gotten progressively worse over the years. The amount of apathy is astounding. If any amount of extra work is required, quit is the answer. (except of course for athletics, which they still get to play when they don't play well, and losing seasons are accepted)
In a world of instant results and gratification, it's getting harder to keep kids involved. It is becoming and expectation or a right to be involved and no longer a privilege. And I fear it is only going to get worse.
