The key to a good music program is good music. I was so lucky to be in one of the best back in the mid 60's. Candide, West point Symphony, Valdrez, La Forza del Destino, Slavonic Folk Suite, music by Creston, Incantation and Dance, and so many great concert selections, not to mention so many great marches and Posa Doblies. Speaking of marches. We marched to pieces like Barnum and Bailey's, Old Comrades, and British 8th, For Graduation, we played Crown Imperial or Orb and Schepture. I have to be "Frank" about this music. Sure it was difficult to play, but as kids, we knew it was great music and we loved coming to band where we had no idea how lucky we were.
