I have used AKG D330BT MARK II, and AKG SE300B-CK92 mics for some of my Honor Bands recordings. They were priced reasonably. One thing I found useful was putting a piece of plexiglass behind the mics to minimize crowd noise at concert.
I recorded many of my rehearsals for study purposes and found I was not hearing everything from the podium. If you want to improve your bands I suggest you try this. It was very painful for me to hear but it's a great tool!
