I am here to write you and ask you to vote for Michael Stringer for TMEA President-Elect. I hope you will read this all the way and hear why I think he would be the best choice for this position.
I have known Michael for 21 years. We were roommates in college. We were placed as roommates because we were both music majors. I found out he was one of the Drum Majors @ Poteet HS and he played violin in Poteet's orchestra. He continued to play his trumpet in the UTA Marching Band.
We graduated, and he went to start the program @ Midway HS near Waco. He built it from the ground up and was extremely successful as soon as he got there.
When the Arlington Martin HS job opened up, he got the opportunity to go there and continue the quality programs that Bill Huff had maintained, and Michael was consistently competing for Honor Orchestra.
When he won Honor String Orchestra, I had never heard Vaughan Williams' "5 Variants on Dives and Lazarus." I was blown away - THAT was why we played music!
Two years later, and Martin won the Honor Orchestra for Full orchestra. He's plays Don Juan, Nimrod, and his group just does wonderfully. It was a full house @ Lila Cockrell. I was just so proud of him and his kids!
He now continues to serve as an administrator for the Fine Arts for the Arlington ISD.
He has been successful in every way of his professional career. If you look at his orchestra division jobs, he has served the division proudly. He is currently the Orchestra division VP and now he is ready to help lead as President-Elect.
I hope you can tell how much I care for him. I just wanted to show how he has continued to grow into the person he is today. When we talk, it is fascinating to hear how he is working to maintain TMEA's goals/objectives.
Thank you for your consideration of Michael Stringer as the next President of our great organization.
